Early in my relationship with my husband, I would speak to my close friends and family members about him, read his messages over and again, and just bask in the euphoria of being loved by another. I read some of his lovely texts to my friend and giggled along with her, and in those moments, I had zero doubts about his love for me.
But months later, an older lady told me to enjoy these courting moments of attention and deep friendship because they don’t last long. That after my marriage, he would spend less time with me and be less romantic. Fear gripped my heart, and I began to question his love for me. When I spoke with him about this, he reassured me of his love and filled my heart with sweet promises. Sometimes, I’d go back to his text messages and just enjoy his choice of words and outpour of love. It strengthened my heart.
